Most systems have true authority linking, i.e., IdNumbers in the name
and subject fields, and series too, plus of course the textual
statement of resp. and series statement.
There's also the choice of using text only instead of an IdNr, for
cases where no authority record exists or isn't deemed worth the effort
of creating.
The utilities (networks) here all use this concept, their software
is either Pica or Aleph. of local systems there are a great many, but
most are also capable of doing true linking.
