CATALOGER - New Hampshire Publisher

Our New Hampshire client-a global supplier of scholarly materials and
services to academic and research libraries-is seeking a cataloger.

Essential Duties:
Perform subject analysis of a broad range of academic library material.
Assigns Library of Congress Subject Headings; including Medical
Headings.  Assigns Library of Congress Dewey Classification Numbers, and
NLM classification when appropriate, including cutters that, in some
cases, are customized for a library's collection. Creates Provisional
Plus cataloging records in MARC21 format applying AACR2r. Reviews
cataloging of peers and provides feedback and training. Assists the
supervisor in formulating cataloging policy based on national cataloging
and classification policy and practice. Links MARC records to
appropriate bibliographic records in the database. Upgrades Library of
Congress CIP records to Full or Core Level as needed.  Searches the ITS
database for records matching items in hand. Creates Provisional and
Corrected cataloging records as needed. Keeps accurate production
statistics.

Experience Required:
Working knowledge of MARC21 format and AACR2r.  Experience in subject
analysis, preferably in an academic library.  Practical and theoretical
knowledge of Dewey and/or LC Classification scheme, with NLM a plus. PC
and database searching skills (such as OCLC).  Experience using
automated library systems for cataloging, acquisitions, and circulation
is preferred.   Master's Degree in Library Science and a minimum of 3
years related experience or equivalent combination of education and
experience. Reading knowledge of a foreign language is desirable.
