Sorry. I was a over sensitive about the idea that I didn't know LCC
from LCSH. Apparently I was using an ambiguous term. The perils of the
autodidact!

Related to using library data statistically:

I made a rather recommendation system combining data from LCC, DDC and
LCSH and employing the data statistically. At root, it recommends as
similar works with the same data. But it's not binary. It counts two
data points (eg., two shared LCSHs or a shared LCSH and a shared DDC)
as worth more than one, and treats the systems as continua (LCC, DDC)
and as hierarches (LCC, DDC, LCSH). So, shelf-proximity and shared
"parent" levels count for something too. It's not as good as
LibraryThing's "people who have X also have Y," but it's pretty good
and kicks up some nice serendipity. And, again, any library can do it.
