You're just flying through the wrong airports.  It is free at BOI and LAS.  Spent a whole day on free wireless in LAS coming back from Fiesta Bowl game, by choice, as took a bump on SW for big bucks, plus a hotel room, etc. SW now owes me 1200 bucks of flying this year.
