Dear NGC4LIBbers:
I have been slow to catch up on the previous posts, so I apologize if
this has already been mentioned. Andrew's comment about hacking (the
negative term is "cracking" from what I recall, just FYI), made me think
about how wonderful it would be to open up the catalog interface and
allow not just librarians, but anyone, create mashups and custom
interfaces. A lot of people are doing this on their own initiative
(especially with Google and Amazon opening their APIs for everyone;
check out http://www.programmableweb.com/mashups). It has a lot of
implications, I know, but the idea of allowing the user to customize the
API is appealing (so one could make an iPod interface if they wanted ;-) ).
