Hi folks,
I've gotten good feedback from both here, private and within the
organisation, so I'll go ahead and create a simple proposal here to
get things started. Let me state the goal of this ;
- give us all free, library focused (first will be OPAC, of course)
well-crafted and directed user surveys to guide us
- docs about simple and cheap usability measures one can do to
improve ourselves
- lots of talk about user expectations, experience, contradiction,
results, and so on
Knowing where to start is always difficult, and the fields of
usability and information architecture hasn't got a strong foothold in
the library sectors, especially not as individual experts. We need to
harness what we've got, and share across all libraries, no matter
where.
If anyone got more ideas and such, don't hesitate to let me know. I
keep rambling on about these issues, but I'm also realising that I
should share my own and others findings, expertise and knowledge in
this field.
I'll keep you posted.
Alex
