This is absolutely true, and there's also an LC-Dewey crosswalk. I'm not
convinced it would be valuable for user access, but for internal use for
lii.org I've long wanted to do an LC-Dewey crosswalk for collection
management. Such a thing exists but not automated. While physical media
requires a shelf location, electronic media does not, and in fact benefits
from being "shelved" in multiple locations. We see class numbers very
literally in librarianship.

I'm unclear about the value of this for the user experience, but I'm glad
someone else pointed out that items can receive multiple class numbers. When
you manage a digital library, some of the limitations and assumptions of
physical libraries become rather obvious.
