Alternately, phpmylibrary (www.phpmylibrary.org).  In general, if you can
find a suitable existing open source product you can use, perhaps with
extensive customization, you will probably be a lot better off than doing
your own from scratch. It always ends up being more complicated than you
thought it would be.
