>My observation of today's posts is that we're all pretty much of one mind about our patrons, their interface experiences, and our library automation systems. It seems to me that we have not verbalized our needs clearly enough to our vendors (i.e., Sirsi iBistro implementations at two different libraries).

Re Sirsi iBistro looking different at two different location. Not trying to be a cheerleader for SirsiDynix but they give the customer tremendous flexibility in customizing the OPAC. If you cruise iBistro/iLink sites you will see much variation in appearance and even functionality depending on the technical ability of the staff. At my location we have 5 different gateways into the same ILS. A customer gets a functional out-of-the-box OPAC but they can customize both programmatically or through configuration file settings. It is a strength of the system.
