Hello everyone,

I'm one of those rare beasts that crossed over from cataloging to
reference and sometimes consider myself a "catalog to librarian"
interpreter. In my mind the catalog is a discovery tool for our paper
holdings. But as other discovery tools evolve (web search,
folksonomies, full text capabilities, etc) the catalog needs to evolve
too, in order to stay relevant. It's kind of disappointing that some
of the best ideas for catalog innovation are coming from outside the
profession (i.e. Superpatron), but it's great that others are taking
up the slack!

Some early morning thoughts--hope to see what others are thinking!
Thanks for starting the discussion.
