Artificial Intelligence/Expert Systems Interest Group

SINCE THE AI/ES DEMO FAIR was so successful at the 1993 ALA Midwinter
Meeting, the IG plans to try it again in 1994. For the 1994 ALA Annual
Conference, AI/ES will co-sponsor the Authority Control program
"Artificial Intelligence and Authority Control: Together At Last?"
Early planning has begun for the 1995 Annual Conference in Chicago,
where the IG would like to have a program on Intelligent Access to
Information featuring speakers with demonstrations. Volunteers to work
on the 1995 program are needed, and the topic will be a major focus of
the group's 1994 Midwinter meeting. The group is considering a
possible preconference for the 1996 ALA Annual Conference in Orlando.

   New officers of the IG for 1993/94 are Doug Kranch (Chair), Martin
Kesselman (Vice-Chair/Program Chair for ALA Chicago) and Steve Westman
(Secretary).--Martin Kesselman
