This is also a time of change for LIBRES. Over the past year, I have been considering a change in career and have now retired from Curtin University to pursue a course of study at the nearby Murdoch University. I have discussed this with the Section Editors and others and the position of Editor-in-Chief and production has been handed over to a team at the Department of Information Studies at Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia. It is proposed that the new Editor-in-Chief is Ms Kerry Smith. She will be the 1997 National President of the Australian Library and Information Association and as well as her teaching commitments at Curtin, is undertaking PhD studies in science and technology information policy. Two other staffers in the Department are to be Managing Editors - a recognition of the need to strengthen the practical support for the EIC. They are Mr Neil Greeve, a lecturer in IT who has excellent contacts in Asia, and Ms Jan Partridge, Acting Head of the Department. They will be supported by Mr Derek Silvester as Technical Manager. I thank you for the opportunity of working with you in exciting times and for your friendship.
