I have unceremoniously unsubscribed the sender of the message. The process was a tiny bit tricky because the sender's email address was obscured.  demarc_policies+-  Which brings me to my next point.

People sending messages to our list are strongly encouraged to supply their real email addresses in their postings and/or some sort of provenance information so others -- we -- can verify the authenticity as well as the authority of the sender and their missives. Email signatures like bob.jones_at_gmail.com sans any organizational association doesn't cut it.

In other words, our mail list is not an anonymous bulletin board system of days gone by. For example, a few professional associations have communication officers. These officers routinely post boiler plate messages announcing conferences, et cetera. The email of such messages often comes from marketing_at_professionalassociation.org. This does tell us anything. It really anonymous. To date, most, if not all, of such officers now include the email addresses of real people. Everybody is encouraged to do the same. People who routinely do not adhere to the policy will be privately made aware of the policy, and after repeated abuses, those people will be unsubscribed.
