The conference theme is “Meaning-Driven AI: Using Metadata to Align Systems with Human Values.”
The panel sessionwill explore how the metadata community can better support colleagues and collaborators who are not metadata specialists, and what human-centered metadata work looks like in settings beyond dedicated metadata units. The conversation will consider how librarians, library leaders, faculty, and community partners engage with metadata in real-world contexts, including AI-enabled discovery, multilingual description, contributor-supplied metadata, Dublin Core implementation, and digital humanities projects. A particular focus will be on how leadership can foster more effective collaboration between metadata specialists and the many communities who depend on, interpret, contribute to, or extend their work.
