Dear Coral Sheldon-Hess

The University of Rennes was one of your customers.
We used to create tutorials with LibGuides for our undergraduate and graduate students, as well as for our PhD students.
Keeping these tutorials updated required a lot of work, so we decided to transfer some content (specifically, the content designed for our PhD students) to a MOOC made with Moodle. Moodle has become a standard for online courses in France, and we could get more support from staff dedicated to this tool.
Instead of updating our tutorials for undergraduate students, we chose to provide our audience and their teachers with a collection of Open Educational Resources (OERs).

Open-source LMS platforms like Moodle align better with our goals (building and sharing OERs) than the proprietary tools we relied on in the past—regardless of the quality of those tools (and we enjoyed using LibGuides).

Best regards,

Damien Belvèze

Hello!

Our library is taking a deep look at how (and if) we develop and support LibGuides from Springshare. We are curious about academic libraries that do NOT use LibGuides. If your institution uses a different tool or process for the functions commonly hosted on LibGuides, we would love to connect with you!

Thanks!
