A simpler option might be to copy the audio files from the thumb drive to an inexpensive mp3 player - $5.35 from W*M.

Years ago I used adapters and dual plug (USB A, micro USB) "Thumb" drives that will connect to a tablet or phone having micro USB. Before streaming to phones was a thing, the goal was to watch movies from an external thumb drive while traveling. Retail sources like Amazon or eBay still ought to have an adapter or a dual plug USB drive .

The phones will presumably run Android or some circa 2018/2020 "smartphone" environment capable of mounting the new drive as well as installing a media player app from the Play appstore as needed. Otherwise a side load or "developer mode" app installation onto the phone will take you deeper into the McGuyver role- even better if the ThumbDrive has both the audio file and the application package file.
