The Data Rescue Project (www.datarescueproject.org<http://www.datarescueproject.org/>), in coordination with librarians from Minnesota, helped to launch a #SaveOurSigns<https://mattermost.datarescueproject.org/data-rescue-project/messages/@hburns#> campaign in July 2025. This campaign addresses the recent calls to whitewash and erase history. As of today, together, volunteers from all over the nation have preserved thousands of photos of National Park Signs. However, we still need your help.
The Washington Post recently reported that sites across the country have been targeted for erasure including Grand Canyon, Glacier, Big Bend, and Zion. We need help getting photos from these sites before it is too late.
We need your help getting new photos -- of signs we don't have, of missing spaces where interpretative panels, of protest signs.
Please see our blogpost for how to get involved (www.datarescueproject.org/sos-help<http://www.datarescueproject.org/sos-help>), spread the word, and help us Save Our Signs.
