Good morning, Code4Lib,
As Penn State Libraries is preparing to evaluate responses to our RFP for a next generation library system, we're interested in getting freelance project management support lined up to help us during our migration.
The project manager would not be charged with leading the actual migration (that's me) or making big decisions and doing data work (that's the team) but would be supporting the migration team and functional implementation teams with project management expertise as we break down complex projects and tasks into milestones and deliverables and then do the actual work of making it happen. Because our library is distributed around the Commonwealth, this person could be remote as long as they can meet on Pennsylvania schedules (for contracting office reasons I think they'd need to be in the US).
There are a number of folks who offer this in the library space. I am looking in particular for recommendations (or cautions) based on your experiences if you've hired someone to provide project management support a migration or other enterprise-level project.
Please email the recommendations to me directly, since I may have follow-up questions: rkt6_at_psu.edu
Thank you very much,
Ruth
