Abstract
Delivering Archives and Digital Objects: a Conceptual Model (DadoCM) is a minimal, system-agnostic framework that aligns digital delivery with archival principles. Archives often provide two separate discovery systems—one built on hierarchical metadata (e.g., ArchivesSpace, ArcLight, or traditional finding aids) and another for digital objects—resulting in inconsistent user experiences that often lead to the same material. A key barrier to unifying these systems is the lack of a consistent data model for digital objects. DadoCM addresses this gap by standardizing how archivists manage access and delivery, enabling more usable, integrated discovery systems. At UAlbany, we demonstrate this with a local implementation that connects ArcLight, ArchivesSpace, and a IIIF pipeline into a single, archival-principled interface.
Presenters
Gregory Wiedeman is the university archivist at the University at Albany, SUNY, where he oversees the University Archives and supports digital workflows and systems implementation. He is the PI for the IMLS-funded ArcLight Integration Project.
Meghan Slaff is the digital archivist at the University at Albany, SUNY. Her primary focus is digital processing, creating documentation, training and guidance for student workers, and integrating DadoCM into preexisting workflows. She also has a passion for web analytics and the digital archival user experience.
