Samsung Galaxy AO3 - won't open SMS messages

My esteemed listmates,

I have 1.6GB of unused data and over 400 minutes of talk on my Samsung cell
with no problems opening or sending regular text messages.

But, if anyone sends me an SMS it won't open.

I've Googled this and 1 uggestin wa o t change from 5G to 4G but that
doesn't look like an option under My Mobile Networks in Settings >
Connections.

I'll need to open SMS messages if a hurricane finds us as co-workers send
SMS messages.
