*Responsibilities & Requirements*
Reporting to the Director of Content Management, the Metadata/Cataloging
Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the discoverability,
accessibility, and organization of library resources, directly impacting
the user experience. Given the evolving landscape of metadata standards,
digital resources, and emerging cataloging practices, this position is
essential for maintaining high-quality records, and metadata and ensures
compliance with current and developing industry standards.
*Responsibilities Include*
Leads the development and implementation of metadata strategies and
cataloging standards to ensure the discoverability of library collections
and meet evolving user needs.
Maintains documentation and best practices for the development and
maintenance of metadata structures within the library.
Completes enhanced and original cataloging of library resources.
Applies values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility to
metadata/data enhancement and remediation.
Responsible for applying current and emerging cataloging standards, along
with metadata schemas and ontologies, to enhance access to library
resources in accordance with national standards.
Establishes policies, procedures, and priorities in cataloging and metadata
services.
Reviews and evaluates workflows to increase efficiencies.
Uses emerging technologies to identify, enrich, and remediate metadata/data
to enhance the discovery and delivery of library content.
Coordinates and implements authority maintenance policies and practices
across library platforms and systems.
Participates in library, campus, and professional committees.
Contributes to the field through research, presentations, and scholarship.
