Bypassing an Acer laptop password

 I'm trying to help a friend of the library whose son died and left an Acer
laptop but she doesn't know her son's password.

Have others found that pressing Alt + F10 and then return it to the factory
default settings works?

Alternatively, I read about Windows Password Refixer by iSumsoft.

Has anyone used that software?

Have you discovered other ways to bypass a pw on an Acer running Windows 10?
