I just created a test Gmail account and didn't have to provide a cellphone number or backup email account. Maybe the patron is trying to be too specific with his username?
Good luck,

Subject: [CODE4LIB] Getting any email account without a cell phone

My esteemed listmates,

A patron had his ID stolen and is a vicnt of an economic crime.

They need to get a new email but Gmail, Yahoo won't proceed to register their new email username without a cell phone #.

I read reddit posts, Googled results and there were no solutions which worked.

Must they buy a burner phone from Tracfone just to get a new gmail?

Are there any ohe email providers they could register an account with?

Thank you so much,

Charles.
