Greetings:

The Software Preservation Network (SPN) Metadata Working Group is pleased to share the Software Metadata Recommended Format (SMRF) Guide with the public for feedback. SMRF aims to provide a highly adaptable framework to describe a range of software types to support discovery, access, and reuse in libraries, museums, archives, and repositories.

While SMRF authors have identified a wide range of concepts that are important to software cataloging, we recognize that there may be gaps in this guide. We invite members of the cultural heritage fields to review SMRF by August 6, and submit feedback directly in our Google Doc.

We look forward to hearing your feedback!

Our best,

The SPN Metadata Working Group
