The Science History Institute is currently recruiting for the full-time (35 hrs week) position of Digital Preservation Archivist.  The Digital Preservation Archivist is responsible for the care and management of the Othmer Library’s digital archival assets to include born digital materials, time-based media, online collection inventories, collection management software, and web archiving.  The Digital Preservation Archivist will be responsible for establishing new digital preservation workflows and training archival staff on evolving best practices.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

·         Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, or equivalent.

·         Five or more years of professional experience as an archivist, at least two of which must include progressive responsibility working with digitized and born-digital archival materials.

·         Experience using typical metadata and archival descriptive standards, including DublinCore, DACS, EAD and others.

·         Knowledge of best practices and archival theory.

·         Familiarity with standard library and archival databases, including ArchivesSpace.

**The starting point for this position is $50,000
