If so, the Florida State University Libraries invite you to apply for the position of Metadata Analyst Librarian. This position will ensure the integrity of discovery data for FSU’s resources. The Metadata Analyst Librarian will coordinate discovery data migration and remediation projects for FSU University Libraries’ holdings in the Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative’s state-wide shared integrated library system as well as collaborating on metadata projects for the Libraries’ Digital Repository. The Metadata and Discovery Services Department provides organized access to information in all formats and creates metadata that enables scholars to find and access FSU's rich resources using both MARC and non-MARC metadata schema and description. Librarians and staff regularly collaborate with other divisions, departments, and units such as Acquisitions, Serials, E-Resources, Collection Access, Digital Research and Scholarship, and the Digital Library Center. The Metadata Analyst Librarian reports to the Department Co-Lead and Head of the Discovery Data Services Unit, which is responsible for metadata maintenance and migration, vendor-supplied services, digital library and institutional repository support, and metadata reporting and visualization Responsibilities Coordinate both pre- and post-migration catalog data remediation projects in collaboration with the Discovery Data Services Specialist. Oversee catalog data migration projects for FSU Libraries’ off-campus study centers and other satellite libraries. Support the FSU digital library and institutional repository through the addition of new descriptions and the remediation of existing metadata. Create reports of library collections statistical data. Coordinate the inclusion of vendor-supplied metadata in the integrated library system for electronic resource packages in collaboration with the Electronic Resources Librarian. Participate in planning long-term metadata strategies. Help prepare for the migration from the Aleph integrated library system to Sierra ILS. Contribute to the management of controlled access points for the digital library and institutional repository. Assist in the creation of reports and visualizations that illustrate metadata needs, issues, projects, purposes for colleagues. Contribute to documentation on metadata procedures, instructions, and guidelines. Provide metadata consultations and support to other campus libraries and entities. Contribute to division-wide activities and planning. Serve on FSU Libraries and University Committees. Participate in state, regional, and national professional organizations.
