Hi Krista, 

I know of at least two Canadian universities (SFU and UPEI) using an integration between Islandora and Pydio for the management of research data. It's explained a bit more here: http://bit.ly/1oX2lfs. The UPEI data sites is: https://data.upei.ca/. Very interesting integrations.
