batch process records with MarcEdit

Hello community,

in order to do the following: replace all whitespaces found in a subfield
metadata, if they are more than one  and remove all whitespaces, if they
are found in the beginning of a subfield's metadata,
and we plan to use MarcEdit http://marcedit.reeset.net/,

would you suggest we procceeded this way? And how could we do the above two
tasks?
