Hi Michael - the Islandora project (islandora.org) is currently working on the integration of Taverna with our stack, which essentially means integration with the Fedora Commons repository. This integration will allow us to use Taverna for the creation/editing of "traditional" digitization workflows, as well as to leverage existing science workflows into our research data stewardship solution.
I would be happy to answer questions from our experience there if useful - if you prefer an offline conversation my coordinates are below.
