It turns out that this is one of those "I should have just searched first" questions. Once it became clearer to me that I didn't need a library-specific app but that all I really needed was AJAX+CRUD, the problem simplified.

It looks like it can do all of the basic functions I need, and I can probably hack on some extra functionality (like catalog links and color changes) using jQuery or minor hacks on the built-in functions.
