Omeka http://omeka.org/ is supposed to be an easy to use, open-source
digital collection tool. Might be worth a look. The developers are
always releasing new skins, and videos about how to accomplish tasks.

Harish,
OpenCollection (http://www.opencollection.org/ ) is open source. It
was mentioned at JASIG. I'm hoping to install and try it out here
soon.
