Yamashita. ************************************************************************* DISCUSSION GROUPS TOPICS AT ANNUAL -- PART II TECHNICAL SERVICES DIRECTORS OF LARGE RESEARCH LIBRARIES Discussion will focus on trends and directions in technical services: changes that are being driven by budget cuts; measurement and evaluation for technical services decision-making; how and where outsourcing is being used; changing roles and responsibilites of technical services librarians and support staff. Other agenda items include a report on the North American Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery (NAILDD) Project, a discussion of how to promote the implementation of the CCC automation recommendations and an update and discussion of LC initiatives in the area of classification and automating shelflisting. Friday, June 24, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Miami Beach Convention Center, Rooms B121 + B122. RLMS DISCUSSION GROUP The topic of discussion for the Reproduction of Library Materials Section (RLMS) Discussion Group will be those potential areas for cooperation between preservation microfilming projects at different institutions. For instance, possible issues for discussion inlcude: lending serials for filming purposes for extended periods of time; the problems that can arise when different institutions are filming materials in the same subject areas; the possibility of dividing up the responsibility for filming serial runs; the issues surrounding the variety in quality control inspection procedures from institution to institution (and the problems that can arise); and the potential for sharing procedural manuals and statistics/tracking forms at use at different institutions; and other topics as they arise. All are invited to attend and to contribute to this discussion. Please come prepared to ask questions, as well as to offer information on how things work back at your institution.
