September 26- 27, the Serials Section is presenting A Capital Idea: Electronic Serials from Acquisition to Access at the Sheraton City Centre, Washington, DC The program is cosponsored by PALINET and The CAPCON Library Network. On October 23-25, ALCTS and RUSA are cosponsoring Virtually Yours: Models for Managing Electronic Resources and Services -- A Joint National Institute on Collections and Services in the Digital Library. It will be held at the Ambassador West Hotel, Chicago. A Capital Idea is a basic course on electronic serials and includes a variety of methods to help librarians from all types and sizes of libraries learn how to balance the practical and theoretical aspects of this rapidly changing format. Virtually Yours will explore the reconceptualization of collection development and public services in a digital environment and the changes that electronic resources and access are bringing for users, services, and collections. This institute will appeal particularly to experienced collections, public services, and administrative staffs in academic or public research libraries.
