That is the cutoff date for the ALA Handbook of Organization, the official compilation of all committees and the basis of the ALCTS roster. The office cannot provide complete and accurate rosters if information is late. If you've already sent in your form, thank you. ************ ALCTS TO SPONSOR TEN INSTITUTES THIS YEAR ALCTS has lined up a full year of continuing education programming approved by the Program Committee. Although publicity is not yet prepared for all of the institutes, the following listing may be helpful as you plan for your technical services learning opportunities. Watch for notice of registration in upcoming issues of _AN2_ and the _ALCTS Newsletter_, as well as on various listservs. When they become available, you may request brochures and registration forms from LaTisha Reynolds (lreynolds@ala.org or 800-545-2433 ext. 5035). Basic Scanning: June 27, 1997, preconference to the ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco. ************ ALCTS CONFERENCE PROGRAM TAPES AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE Audio-cassette tapes of several ALCTS programs from the Annual Conference in New York are now available. The programs which were taped are: Librarians on the Edge: Preparing for the Digital Future (the ALCTS President's Program); The Webbed Acquisitions Librarian; Digital Preservation: Building an Access Infrastructure; Digitizing America's Heritage: The National Digital Library Federation and You; and Creative Outsourcing: Assessment and Evaluation. All programs are $24, except for the one-cassette tape of Creative Outsourcing ($12). Orders can be called in to Teach'em at 800-225-3775. Teach'em will also fax you an order form on request. ************ LATEST DDC PUBLISHED; ALCTS PROVIDES TRAINING To coincide with the publication of the latest edition of the Dewey Decimal Classification, ALCTS is holding a preconference to the California Library Association annual meeting in November to highlight the major changes in the new edition. OCLC Forest Press, publisher of DDC, has made the Classification available in two formats for the first time: the traditional four-volume print edition and a new Microsoft Windows-based version, Dewey for Windows, on compact disc. In addition to small-group training exercises in the use of the new edition, and presentations on how users impact the development of the CLassificiaiotn, the preconference will include demonstrations of the electronic Dewey and a presentation on Dewey for Windows.
