I would be very grateful for any information about how your library handles ordering, checking in, and cataloging standing orders. We may be looking at combining standing order functions with the cataloging department, and I would like to know how others are treating this part of the workflow. Who does what? Is it totally an Acquisitions function, or does Cataloging get involved at the check-in level at least? Please reply to me personally, I will summarize for the list if enough interest exists. Margit J. Smith Head of Cataloging University of San Diego Copley Library (2) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 18 Oct 96 16:36:10 EDT From: Brian McLaughlin (Syracuse Univ.) Subject: Prepays and overseas I would be interested in any feedback from BOTH libraries and vendors regarding orders submitted to US-based vendors that either require prepayment, or are not available in the US. We've received notices in response to some claims on open orders "Cannot Cancel - Item prepaid or ordered from Overseas" Some of these items have been open orders well beyond our normal one-year limit. Other than more careful pre-order searching (to identify these categories prior to be sent out) I would be interested in suggestions / reactions. Thank you!! Subject: William S. Gray research collection in reading I am requesting information regarding the William S. Gray research collection in reading published by the Alvina Treut Burrows Institute in Manhasset, New York. This is a microfiche collection. Specifically, has anyone received the 1991, 1992, or 1993 supplements? Has anyone been able to make contact with this publisher in the last year or so? I would appreciate any assistance communicated directly to me. Many thanks. Mack (Lehigh Univ.) Subject: "Cornplanter Chronicles" I have been trying to locate a source for Harold Thomas Beck's "Cornplanter chronicles : a tale of the legendary Seneca chieftain," published by Beck himself in Custer City, PA in 1994. So far I've had no luck with getting phone info (no such person listed there) and am now at a loss as to how/whether to proceed. My only thought (before I give up) is to ask whether anyone out there owns it and how they acquired it. Can anyone help? Helen P. Thanks, in advance, for your response to this. I am interested in purchasing books in Italian and/or English. Subject interest include: Italian history, regional studies, Italian literature (in Italian), Italian Encyclopedias (one for adults and one for Children).
