The book is Competition: Global Tourism Beyond the Millenium, published by the International Policy Publishing Co. Can anyone give us a hand? Steve Johnson Acquisitions Unit R. M. Subject: Book Dealers and Withdrawals I would be interested if any libraries have experience with using book dealers for purchasing "blocks" of withdrawn items. I vaguely remember having a dealer tell me on the phone that they would submit a bid to have withdrawals sent to them. If I've not "invented" this notion and anyone knows of dealers I might contact, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you!! Subject: RE: The Internet and Acquisitions I'm particularly interested in Sung-Won Kim's questions about using the Internet for acquisitions. I am editor of Book News, Inc., which publishes SciTech Book News (since 1976) and Reference & Research Book News (since 1996). Both are annotated bibliographic periodicals which are used by acquisitions librarians (and both have been a main contributor to the CD-ROM version of _Books in Print with Reviews_ ). This year we've gone on the Internet as an experiment, putting all of our data at a Web site. So far, not much response. I'm blazingly interested in hearing from acquisitions librarians who have some time to look at the site. I have never formally studied French, and would appreciate if anyone with more knowledge of the language could enlighten me on the scope of the _alapage_ database. I don't mean to comment negatively; the search interface is easy and fast, and allows the user to limit searches by broad subject areas. Price, ISBN, and bibliographic information is included for each entry. Also, I am curious to know if there are similar websites that list the equivalent of other non-U.S. books-in-print resources.
