ACQNET v4n035 (May 30, 1994) URL = http://www.infomotions.com/serials/acqnet/acqnet-v4n035 ISSN: 1057-5308 **************** ACQNET, Vol. 4, No. 35, May 30, 1994 ==================================== (1) FROM: Eleanor Cook SUBJECT: ACQNET suspended for one week (39 lines) (2) FROM: Robin Sumner SUBJECT: Library-AAUP Survey (147 lines) (1)---------------------------------------------------------------- ATTENTION ALL SUBSCRIBERS: ACQNET suspended May 31-June 6, 1994 Your editor will be attending the 9th annual conference of the North American Serials Interest Group (NASIG) in Vancouver, British Columbia. I hope to see many of you there - and hope to discuss the future of ACQNET informally with you as well. *************NOTE: Submissions received after 5/29/94************* will be held until I return. In the past few weeks I have had many thoughts about how to proceed with ACQNET, but I am going to save my ideas until 1) I have had a chance to talk with members of the ACQNET Editorial Board and 2) I have had a chance to formulate my questions coherently for you, the subscribers. Expect something like a questionnaire from me in July. ACQNET keeps a person busy. Besides putting together these issues, for each issue I send out I get 5-10 rejection notices on average. Some of these are easily solved, other more problematic. They all take some time, not only for me, but sometimes also for ASU's e- mail Postmaster. Terry and I are enjoying learning how to handle all this, but it makes for a new dimension in e-mail traffic management! I am trying to keep up with the many excellent submissions received for ACQNET. The format of ACQNET requires more editorial intervention than a typical listserve, which is why you will, for the time being, continue to see job posting and meeting announcements quicker on other lists. Some parts of ACQNET are a bit in limbo right now. The directory has been discontinued, but I think we should investigate alternatives for the future. We're still in the process of setting up the archives with FTP access, and Index maintenance is in flux. Still, ACQNET has continued uninterrupted during the transition from Cornell to Appalachian, and there is strong evidence that the need for ACQNET continues unabated. Thank you, all of you, for your support and patience during this time of transition!
