We have a few blanket orders set up with specific record labels, but know of no vendor who could set up a profile to automatically send us items across many record labels. Ordering each CD individually is extremely labor-intensive!! (3)------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Donna Hawk (Chattanooga St. Tech. Comm. Coll.) Subject: Help Finding Dental Video Tapes Date: Tue, 22 Feb 1994 08:17:45 -0500 I am trying to find the names vendors of video tapes that would feature dental instruments. The only name that I have is Hu-Friedy and they do not have what I need. I need a video tape on how to sharpen dental instruments, specifically a sickle scaler. (4)------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: David Kim (Salve Regina University) Subject: _Policies of Publishers_, 5th Edition Date: Tue, 22 Feb 1994 11:09:19 -0500 Craig Wilson (Assistant Director for Collection Development at University of Delaware Libraries) and I (a former acquisitions librarian, now Library Director at Salve Regina University) are preparing for the 5th edition of _Policies of Publishers: a Handbook for Order Librarians_ (a Scarecrow publication). My colleagues here suggest me to add information concerning: (1) acceptance of electronic orders and, if so, the address; (2) e-mail address; and (3) availability of publishers' online catalog. DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER ITEMS which you think would be useful for acquisitions librarians? For your convenience I list headings included in the current edition of _Policies of Publishers_ (Metuchen, NJ: Scarecrow Press, 1989): Main address Address for orders Address for returns Telephone number(s) Prepayment Discount policy Return policy Shipping and billing policy Backorder policy Standing order/special plans Craig and I also attempted to include cross references from all divisions, subsidiaries, etc. to the publishers if their publications are distributed by their parent organizations. I appreciate your suggestions. (5)------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Karen Clift (Miami University - Ohio) Subject: Order Forms Revision Date: Fri, 25 Feb 1994 11:23:00 -0500 Miami University is currently revising the order form used by the subject specialist or bibliographer to request Acquisitions purchase an item for the Libraries. This is also the form used during the pre-order searching up to the point the order is created in our electronic system. We are exploring our options in using electronics to send the order requests to Acquisitions. Is anyone else currently using an electronic form in this manner? What are you using, how does it work, and how does it interact with pre-order search needs, such as checking other databases, etc?
