Topic: "What is a Flat Discount Anyway?" The topic of this ALA Midwinter's Acquisitions Librarians/Vendors Discussion Group is discount structures of vendors and what they really mean for acquisitions librarians. For instance, what is a flat discount? What are the other discounts offered by vendors of library materials? The discussions will be led by two vendors, who will illustrate the discount structures offered by their companies, and by two librarians, who will talk about their use and philosophy of discounts. The meeting will then be thrown open for comments, questions and discussion among the attendees. The discussion leaders will be: Dana Alessi, Baker & Taylor; Lawrence Nagel, Midwest Library Service; Diane Graves, Loyola University; and, Tom Leonhardt, University of Oklahoma. Please join us in Los Angeles and share your thoughts, concerns, comments or problems concerning discount structures for various library materials and plans. The Discussion Group is Co-Chaired by Tom Laney, The Book House, and Roger Presley, Georgia State University.
