Gaele Gillespie (University of Kansas) Subject: More on Collet's Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1993 21:32:30 -0400 [Reprinted with permission. -- C.] The latest information to be forwarded me from the SLAVS discussion list (SLAVS@library.Berkeley.edu) concerning Collet's status: Gregory Walker (Bodleian Library, Oxford) says they have received a 60-page document containing the Administrator's proposals: "Administrators were appointed by the High Court on 22 July because of the firm's insolvency and cash flow problems. The company is continuing to trade on an overdraft. All advance payments from customers are being paid into a separate account, which is only being drawn off when the goods or services are provided. An identical scheme is intended in future trading. The Administrators will propose (to a meeting of creditors to be held on 1 September) that Phillip Wilson Publishing Ltd. should take over the firm as a going concern and continue to operate it. Collets' present unsecured creditors would be paid 24p on the pound. Forty-two of the firm's 60 staff were made redundant on 26 July. The Administrators' proposals make no mention of further plans for the company, its staffing or its trading pattern." If this document has reached one customer, then perhaps it won't be too long until all customers receive a copy of it. (3)------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Marsha Skoman (Drake University) Subject: Law Acquisitions Advice Sought Date: Thu, 2 Sep 1993 11:45:47 -0400 I am new to law library acquisitions. I have serials experience in an academic library, but law and legal materials are virtually new to me. If anyone can spare a few minutes to message me, I would like to know what three things (in your opinion) I need to be most concerned about. Or, if you'd rather, share three pieces of your best advice. Thank you very much!
