Mansheim (Eastern Virginia Medical School) Subject: Asking ACQNET-L: Serials prices? January is budget preparation time for many of us whose fiscal years are July-June. In the past, serials vendors have prepared price projections for next year in time for ALA mid-winter. This year I have not seen any projections for calendar 2001, and my vendor will be late, also. Have you seen projections for serials prices for Calendar 2001? Does it strike you as odd? Any theories? If you base your planning on other criteria, please share this. Debus (Univ of Wisconsin-Madison) Subject: E-BAY Hello, The University of Wisconsin - Madison is in the process of creating procedures for handling orders placed through the electronic auction service, E-BAY. We were wondering if other libraries are using this service. If you do, how do you track the orders in your ILS? Are there any sort of caps placed on bids to ensure that selectors don't go wild and pay an inappropriate amount for an item? How do you handle payments to the sellers? What does your purchasing office think of E-BAY? Do they place any restrictions on its use? Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Karl E. Hello everyone, Are there national awards of excellence for acquisitions staff? I wonder how we compare to other libraries in terms of serials check-in, payment records, claims processing and material distribution. There are obvious things for the public services librarians to include, but what about those of us in technical services? Do any of you have examples of portfolio contents for t.s. librarians? Thanks, -- Jeanette P.S. Please send those responses directly to me. I will summarize for all the lists. ================================================================== Jeanette Mosey Austin Community College Head Librarian 7748 Highway 290 West LRS Technical Services & Automation Austin, TX 78736 512-223-8682 voice 512-223-8611 fax jmosey@austin.cc.tx.us (7)------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2000 17:46:01 -0500 From: Louise Merriam (Minneapolis Public Library) Subject: Pamphlet vendors Our old pamphlet vendor, Bacon Pamphlet Service, has closed due to illness.
