This bi-annual event marks our never ending quest for renewal, meaning, and escape from our daily hassles. I'm part of it too, and will be leaving all of this behind on Tuesday June 22, to join many of you in Nawlins. I will also meet Marylou Hale, long-time ACQNETter from Nevada, who has the distinction of being the first support staff person on ACQNET, as well as the first support staff contributor. It will be Marylou's first ALA and a treat for me. In other words, there will be no ACQNET from June 22 on for about a week. (6)------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jun 1993 16:35:50 -0400 From: Paul R Pival (Christopher Newport U.) Subject: Approval plan vendors I have a question. How many of you out there have more than one vendor for approval plans? (I guess to put it another way, how many of you have more than one approval plan?) Are there advantages to having more than one? The only one I see is that if one vendor is not giving satisfactory service, their account can be allowed to run out, while the other continues to receive funds. Perhaps I should preface this with the fact that we operate on a state contract, so once we pick one (or more) we are obligated to stay with them for the duration of the contract. I would think that having more than one approval plan would create problems with overlapping subject areas. Does anyone try giving certain subject areas to one vendor, and others to another? I appreciate any light that can be shed on this question.
