Scott Wicks asked about exchanges with institutions in Iraq, and it is less clear to me whether exchanges can be made with that country. Does anyone else have up-to- date information? (3)---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 16 Dec 1992 11:31 CST From: Margaret Sylvia (St. Mary's University) Subject: PC-based acquisitions systems We are currently using the Dynix Acquisitions Module but it is really difficult to use in a number of ways. We are thinking of migrating to a networkable PC based system separate from Dynix. I am looking seriously at the PC-based system from Midwest Library Service and I would like to receive comments from current users. I would like also to receive comments from current users of any stand-alone acquisitions system, good or bad. Thanks. (4)---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 16 Dec 1992 18:39:23 EST From: Eric Childress (ELON COLLEGE) Subject: _Ireland, a history_ I need some help chasing down a video series. One of our history faculty is requesting that we purchase _Ireland, a history_ (title may actually vary slightly from this), which to her knowledge was a 13 part series broadcast on either PBS or A&E, produced by Robert Kees (evidently it must be based on his book with the same title published in 1980), and BBC Films. I have not been able to find any citation to this series, nothing on OCLC, or in the PBS catalog, etc. BBC/Lionheart in New York did not have listing for it. Can anyone provide me with a definitive citation or better still a source? Thanks. (5)---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: 11 Dec 1992 14:29:01 U From: Joyce Ogburn (Yale University) Subject: Call for papers The Academic Library Association of Ohio (ALAO) seeks program proposals for its 13th annual conference, scheduled for November 18-19, 1993 at the Radisson Hotel (North) in Columbus. Featured speakers at the conference will be Blaise Cronin, Dean of the School of Library and Information Science at Indiana University, and Michael J. Gorman, AACR2 editor and Dean of Library Services at California State University Fresno. You are encouraged to propose program sessions on any topic relevant to the conference theme of "Pathways to Progress: Choices for the 90s." New information technologies hold great promise for libraries, but fiscal constraints require new thinking and hard choices to sustain progress. How can we continue to improve quality in an environment of limited resources? For example, sessions on resource sharing and networking, innovative approaches to both public services and technical services, ethics, coping with budget cuts, flexible use of staff, and library education would be possibilities. A wide variety of session formats will be available: panel discussions, mini-workshops, reports of research, individual presentations, special interest group meetings, and group discussions are all appropriate. Program Proposal/Meeting Request forms are available from Gary A. Hunt, Ohio University Library, Athens, OH 45701 Tel: 614-593-2709 Internet: HUNTG@OUVAXA.UCLS.OHIOU.EDU The deadline for proposals is January 31, 1993. ******* END OF FILE ****** ACQNET, Vol. 2, No. 112 ****** END OF FILE *******
