For me that starts on Monday when I will take to the Interstate eventually to join many of you in Katina's tropical paradise. So, this is the first advanced warning. If you want to get something out, get it to me quickly. I am planning to get at least one more issue out after this one. After that you can still send postings but nothing will happen to them until I come back. (2) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 30 Oct 91 09:44 +1000 From: Graham Black Subject: Singaporean library suppliers The University of Central Queensland Library has recently had need to obtain material from Singapore. We have been unable to locate a supplier of material from this region. I would appreciate any information on reputable vendors supplying material from Singapore or anywhere else in South-East Asia. The suppliers can be of monographs or serials as the major UK, US, & Australian vendors all seem to have difficulty in supplying materials from this area. (3) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 25 Oct 91 17:46:06 PDT From: Meta Nissley Subject: CD-ROM Directories Here is my belated response to Betty Oktay's inquiry about CD-ROM directories. As she mentioned, there is _CD-ROMs IN PRINT_, published by Meckler. It is available on CD-ROM, although I have not seen in yet. Another source is the _CD-ROM DIRECTORY_, published by TFPL Publishing (London), ISBN 1-870-889-231. There is also a CD-ROM product for this directory. Both are good sources of information for current products in the field. (4) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 30 Oct 1991 11:31 EDT From: Pamela Rose Subject: U.S. vendors for German imprints In reply to Renee Mansheim, why not use Otto Harrassowitz, POB 2929, D6200 Wiesbaden, Germany? We have found them to be one of the best vendors of all we use, including state-side, they bill in US$, are very punctual and report-orie- nted. They do have a US rep. address now as well, but we send all our orders direct to the above address. Stateside is: POB 10, Columbia, MD 21045-0010, 800-642-2999, 301-964-3011 FAX 301-964-3013. Reps. in US are Jane Maddox and Lorne Kenyon. (5) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 30 Oct 1991 12:18:50 EST From: Rosann Bazirjian Subject: Rush orders service charge We have just been informed by our book dealer that the prices for rush ordering have been increased, from $5.00 to $10.00 per publisher. We had been getting exceptional service on these orders, but honestly cannot afford that much of a price increase. So we changed book vendors for our rush orders to one that charges $6.00 per publisher. We fax our rush titles daily, and had been receiving the books within 1-2 weeks. I am wondering what other libraries are paying for rush service, in general, and what type of turn-around they receive. My guess is that the price we pay is about average. (6) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 26 Oct 91 19:22 EDT From: "Carol P. Hawks" Subject: _LAPT_ Contents _Library Acquisitions: Practice & Theory_ is a journal whose primary subscrip- tion list is institutional. The majority of acquisitions and serials librari- ans do not receive individual copies, but rather route or make use of their institutional copies. As a result, the _LAPT_ Editorial Board has consulted with Christian Boissonnas and the ACQNET Editorial Board and with Birdie MacLennan of SERIALST. As a test, the table of contents in full (for ACQNET) and selected highlights related to serials will be posted to the two forums. Please let me know directly or via the list your reactions to this test. Our primary goal is to provide an alerting service for possible articles that you might find of interest.
