The Circulation Department has asked that we provide a dollar figure to use in billing the patron. Is there a formula or standard practice? (3) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 5 Aug 91 09:40 EDT From: Lynne Brown Subject: Approval plan evaluation We're preparing to do a major evaluation of our approval plan program and would be interested to hear from others involved with approval plans. What's working, what's not? Is anyone using vendor tape services to track approval receipts? Does it help avoid processing firm order requests for items that will come on approval? Any other suggestions to help educate selectors? Thanks! (4) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 04 Aug 91 11:48 EST From: "Marcia Tuttle" Subject: Networking I very much agree with your feeling about ACQNET (my newsletter, e-mail in general) bringing people closer together. The informality and frequent contact promote genuine friendship instead of the 1950s style of dating, where one sees the other only in a formal, dressed-up situation. Or, working in the same library instead of only seeing one another at confer- ences? What a change this particular capability has made in our professional lives! Far more than ALA, NASIG, or the rest. Actually, it has changed them as well, mainly in just the way you noticed. (5) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: 5 Aug 91 09:32:05 From: "Joyce Ogburn" Subject: More on Yale Acquisitions I can now announce that I will be joined in the new Acquisitions Department by Cindy Crooker as Acquisitions Librarian. Cindy is presently employed as one of the Processing Services Team Leaders. As of August 15, she will be in Acquisi- tions over the two new receiving units for serials and monographs. Cindy has some previous acquisitions experience from Brown University and has worked with the approval plan receipts here at Yale. She had her first official lunch with a vendor on Friday and had a great time! She will be a wonderful addition to the acquisitions world and is eager to get started. I hope she can attend the Charleston meeting and meet many of you there.
