ACQUISITIONS AND COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT LIBRARIAN
SUNY Maritime College, located on the Throggs Neck peninsula in the
Bronx a short distance
from midtown Manhattan and Westchester, seeks bright and enthusiastic
individuals to help
support the mission of our college. We currently have an opening for an
Acquisitions and
Collection Development Librarian.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with liaison librarians
coordinating collection
development and management of resources in all formats. Other duties
include:
- Responsible for ordering, receiving and invoice processing.
- Performs reference duties and participates in the library's
information literacy program.
- Participate in the development of website content.
- As a member of the faculty serves on various campus-wide
committees of the college governance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- ALA-accredited MLS degree
- Experience in library acquisitions operations at a research or
academic library
- Experience in collection development
- Demonstrated knowledge in library acquisitions business
practices, vendor relations, and fund accounting
- Experience with integrated library system
- Supervisory experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to successfully lead, train and interact with employees
- Ability to develop positive professional relationships with
commercial vendors and the college community
- Resourcefulness, creativity, problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in another academic discipline
- Three years of acquisitions /bibliographic services experience,
collection development
- Familiarity with the Ex-Libris integrated library system,
supervisory experience
- Knowledge of emerging library technologies.
