Subject: Free NISO/BISG Information Standards Forum to Precede ALA 
Conference


*Please join us for the second annual NISO/BISG Forum: *“The Changing 
Standards
Landscape: Creative Solutions to Your Information Problems.” The forum, 
a partnership
between the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) and the 
Book Industry
Study Group, Inc. (BISG) will immediately precede the American Library 
Association
conference in Anaheim, CA

The half-day event – to be held on Friday, June 27^th , from 12:30 pm - 
4:00 pm in the
Anaheim Convention Center, Room 304 A/B – will provide a big-picture 
look at the
development and impact of common solutions-based standards for 
librarians and publishers.
Explaining why standards are important for your organization and how you 
can get involved,
the program will focus on the preparations under way to build standards 
for tomorrow's
digital supply chain.

NISO’s Managing Director, Todd Carpenter, and BISG’s Executive Director, 
Michael
Healy, will lead the forum through three main areas of standards 
development:

-- Identify & Describe
-- Discover & Retrieve
-- Comply & Use

To discuss these ever-changing and growing areas of standardization will be



-- Brian Green, Executive Director, EDItEUR
-- Annie Callanan, President & CEO, Bowker
-- Tina Feick, Consultant and Co-Chair, NISO I2 (Institutional 
Identifiers) Working Group
-- Clifford A. Lynch, Executive Director, Coalition for Networked 
Information (CNI)

Additional speakers are being confirmed, and topics will include 
identifiers for digital publications,
authors, and institutions; standards for delivering online book content 
and knowledge bases;
and an update on ACAP and ONIX-PL.
