of North Texas)


Visiting Electronic Acquisitions Librarian

The University of North Texas Libraries seeks a detail oriented 
librarian to be
responsible for the acquisition of materials in electronic formats.

The Electronic Acquisitions Librarian reports directly to the Head of 
the Serials
Unit and works collaboratively with the Contracts Librarian and the Library
Liaisons to research and document new electronic acquisitions.

Specific Position Responsibilities:

· Contacts vendors to obtain product information, preliminary pricing
information, and preliminary licensing information;
* Prepares documentation for the Contracts Librarian to begin the contract
negotiation process for the electronic resources;
· Works with Contracts Librarian on the acquisition of digital rights for
materials in all formats;
* Evaluates license agreements for CDs and books with CDs and processes
them according to departmental procedures;
· Works closely with librarians/staff in other library departments in the
identification and selection of electronic resources materials to 
support the
University’s teaching and research objectives;
* Coordinates with Library Liaisons to schedule trials of electronic 
resources
and in the evaluation of the products;
· Serves on various library work groups/committees as well as university
committees as requested;
· Participates in library and information science scholarship and 
professional
organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

· Master's Degree in Library Science or Master's in Library and Information
Sciences degree from an ALA accredited program or international equivalent;
· 1-2 years experience in an academic library, large public library, or 
special
library for Librarian I; 3 years experience in an academic library, 
large public library,
or special library for Librarian II; 5 years experience in an academic 
library, large
public library, or special library for Librarian III
· Demonstrate effective written communication skills
· Evidence of participation in professional organizations appropriate to 
level
of appointment

Preferred qualifications:

· Experience with automated acquisitions systems (preferably Innovative 
Interfaces);
· Experience with contracts and licensing;
· Experience with database, spreadsheet and word processing software 
packages.

RANK: Librarian I, II or III

SALARY: Minimum of $38,000 at Librarian I; Minimum of $42,000 at 
Librarian II
and minimum of $ 47,000 at Librarian III.
