HEAD OF TECHNICAL SERVICES AND MANAGER OF RESOURCE PROCUREMENT

The University of Northern Colorado seeks applicants for the position of 
Head of Technical
Services and Manager of Resource Procurement, Assistant Professor of 
University Libraries,
position number F99925

This is a tenure-track faculty position with overall responsibility for 
a department of 11 staff and
two librarian managers. The position reports to the Associate Dean

The Head of Technical Services will provide innovative leadership for a 
newly configured
department consisting of three units: Resource Procurement, Resource 
Processing & Description,
and Resource Maintenance. The department is responsible for acquisition, 
cataloging and
access to library materials in all formats using the Innovative 
Interfaces system. The position
will directly supervise the librarians who manage the Resource 
Processing & Description and
Resource Maintenance units. The position will also have direct 
supervisory responsibility for the
Resource Procurement unit whose functions include the acquisition of 
library materials in all
formats and the management of a library materials budget of over 
$2,000,000. As the Head
of Technical Services, the successful applicant will facilitate 
collaboration across the three units
and provide leadership in the application of appropriate technology. The 
person in this position
must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work 
collaboratively with a broad range
of groups and individuals. The person in this position is also expected 
to contribute to reference
service, library instruction, or collection development.

REQUIRED: Earned Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school; 
three years of
experience in technical services, including substantial experience in 
the acquisition of library
materials; two years of supervisory experience. PREFERRED: Experience 
managing budgets;
experience with the acquisitions module of an integrated library system; 
experience licensing
electronic resources; experience providing reference service, delivery 
of instruction or collection
development.

Salary minimum is $50,000 (negotiable). The starting date is October 1, 
2008 (negotiable).
