RESOURCE ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN

Slippery Rock University's Bailey Library is seeking applicants for a
full-time tenure track position at the Instructor or Assistant Professor
rank to begin spring 2009.  This is a full-time tenure track position
offering a competitive salary and excellent benefits as outlined in the
Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) of APSCUF.  The CBA can be found

per year contract is typically supplemented with an additional summer
contract.

Job Description:  The Resource Acquisitions Librarian is responsible for
managing the acquisition of materials in all formats and for the
bibliographic control of electronic resources and serials.  The Resource
Acquisitions Librarian works closely with the Collection Management
Librarian in the preparation and allocation of the library's print,
serials, and electronic resources budget, coordinates licensing
agreements for electronic resources, and supervises acquisitions staff.
This position will also serve as academic liaison to assigned
departments and participate with all library faculty in the reference
rotation, including occasional evenings and weekends.  The candidate
must be committed to serve diverse populations.

Qualifications:  MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or the
equivalent from a foreign university and a minimum of two years of
professional experience are required.  Candidates are also required to
have acquisitions and supervisory experience.  Preference will be given
to applicants with academic, cataloging, and budgeting experience.
Successful completion of an on-campus interview, including a
presentation on a relevant topic, to be determined by the search
committee, is also required.  As a tenure-track position, the successful
candidate must be able to meet the academic and scholarly requirements
for tenure.
